Where to Find Hotels in New York

Hotels litter the landscape across New York City, and it is comforting for the traveler to know that there are many options in this sprawling metropolis, and one of them is sure to be perfect for you. Essentially there are three main areas that tend to have a lot of hotels. Depending on your budget, travel plans and accommodation expectations, your choice of hotel will largely be determined by the part of New York you want to stay in and visit.
Downtown

Downtown is a great place to stay. There are amazing restaurants, a lively time to be had in the evenings and, for the business traveler it is very near the financial and business districts of Manhattan.

In Union Square there is the well-respected and trendy W New York, which offers a deal on consecutive night stays or discount rates in every season.

A little farther downtown is the St. Marks Hotel, a surprisingly affordable night's stay in an old, well-maintained building. But beware that St. Mark's Street is active and loud at all times of the night.

Uptown

Uptown hosts the classic New York of Central Park, Broadway and world-renowned museums. Hotels in this part of Manhattan tend to be tailored for luxury and leisure.

The Courtyard Marriott Times Square is a great option for the fashion-conscious as the home to Fashion Week, Bryant Park, is very close to this hotel. The Courtyard Marriott offers amenities from high-speed internet to a gym and onsite market.

The Beacon Hotel is located in a quieter, somewhat more sophisticated part of Manhattan. The hotel features large rooms, giant closets and is near Central Park and the Natural History Museum.

Outer Burroughs

The Outer Boroughs of New York offer their own world-class attractions, from ballparks to beaches. Staying in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island or Queens is a great way to save money and see an area more indicative of New York's daily culture than the glitz and polish of Manhattan.

The Nu Hotel is an establishment located in Brooklyn. The design is elegant and this section of downtown Brooklyn has shopping options to rival many Manhattan districts as well as quaint neighborhoods with brownstones that rival the beauty of the Upper East Side residences. This hotel is also very near Park Slope, the sister park to Manhattan's Central Park.

In Queens there are many budget hotel options, one of the best reviewed being the Ramada Queens. The hotel has free parking (limited to six spaces), a caring staff, clean and well-stocked rooms. There are subway stops very nearby, ensuring easy access to all parts of the greater New York area in addition to the lively local neighborhood.
