2 Star Hotels Near Boston Common MA
Common has been the heart of this city for about 400 years. It is the oldest park in the country. Fittingly, it is the starting point of the Freedom Trail, which follows the city's patriots and traces the beginning of the American Revolution. British troops camped here prior to the Revolution and left from these grounds to face colonial resistance at Lexington and Concord in April 1775. Public hangings took place here until 1817. Cattle grazed on the Common until 1830. Today, the Common's almost 50 acres serve as the anchor of the Emerald Necklace, a system of connected parks that winds through many of Boston's neighborhoods. Boston has many hotels in many price ranges, and several excellent 2-star facilities are close to Boston Common.

Hotel 140 is a boutique facility that opened in 2005. It has 54 guest rooms along with fitness and business centers. Also located in Boston's Back Bay section and about two miles from Boston Common, the hotel is housed in the country's first headquarters of the YWCA.
The historic building, built in 1929, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was completely renovated for use as a hotel.
