Review of the Doubletree Hotel San Diego-Mission Valley California

Doubletree Mission Valley
Doubletree Mission Valley
The 300 room Doubletree San Diego-Mission Valley is a centrally located hotel attached to Mission Valley's Hazard Center. This hotel offers guests easy access to freeways and attractions, while providing them with comfort and style. Although the hotel only has one breakfast restaurant, it is close to shopping and dining. The rooms are spacious and offer balconies.
Wows and Woes

You can not beat the location of this hotel. It's located right next to the 163 freeway, which leads directly to downtown San Diego.

Traffic in Mission Valley is terrible during rush hour. It makes getting to or leaving the hotel during this time almost impossible.

Insider Tips

The east side of the hotel faces a giant parking lot. It is always busy so there will noise. Try to get a room on the west side as the freeway noise is a bit less. Also the east side is not shielded so there will be early morning sun.

The hotel is close to the San Diego trolley which goes downtown. Try to use that for travel if you can.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

Checking in we were upgraded to the executive floor which has morning and evening receptions. This was a welcome gift and allowed us to relax in the hotel the first evening instead of going out.

Bottom Line

The Doubletree hotel is a nice mid-priced hotel which benefits from its location and freeway access. There is automobile noise, but if you can stand that, this hotel is wonderful.
