History
Originally, the 1,300-acre resort was one of Hugh Hefner's Playboy resorts. In 1994, Lee A. Berthelsen, president and chief operating officer of Marcus Hotels, purchased the property for $4.25 million, turning it into the Grand Geneva Resort. A time-share complex was added adjacent to the resort in 1999.
Location
Suitably located between Milwaukee and Chicago, the Grand Geneva Resort sits quietly within three miles of the shores of Lake Geneva.
Features
The Grand Geneva Resort features approximately 62,000 square feet of event space. Dining choices include any one of nine restaurants. The resort is home to two championship golf courses. Other features include personalized luxury service, tennis courts, a spa, Mountain Moose Falls Waterpark, horseback riding, hiking paths and the Kids are Grand Recreational Center.
Accommodations
The Grand Resort has 335 guest rooms. The room choices are the deluxe guest room, newport junior room, newport suite, geneva suite and the newport executive suite.
Meetings and Weddings
Possessing the most elaborate meeting facilities in Mid-America, the Grand Geneva is the choice of many corporate events and weddings. The grand ballroom is 7,680 square feet, and the resort's conference center is 12,000 square feet. Weddings can take advantage of the rooms afforded to meetings, with a plethora of design choices.
