Deer Park,
New York has had a long and interesting history. Once considered New York's "fruit basket," it was originally a farming district that was known for its dahlia production. Although it has no major tourist attractions, its considerable history is one reason its name is so well known.
Geography
Deer Park is a hamlet at the northwest corner of the town of Babylon on Long Island.
History
Deer Park owes its founding to the European settler Joseph Conklin, who arrived in the area in 1666.
Deer Park's Features
Deer Park may sound like a small burg, but in fact is a bustling place; it has 57 recreational facilities, at least 5 parks, several tennis courts and a wide pick of social clubs for adults.
Famous Ties
Deer Park has been visited by several popular figures, including singer Ethel Merman, and actor Alan Alda. Rodney Dangerfield grew up in the area, and President John Quincy Adams made Deer Park his seasonal home.
Mistaken Identities
Deer Park, Long Island and Deerpark in Upstate New York are often confused, even though they are hundreds of miles apart.
