Offering many exclusive Disney perks, the Hilton Hotel at Downtown Disney is an exceptional value, perfect for families traveling to
Orlando. The hotel features two pools, a tropical hot tub with waterfall, a kids' spray area, gym, business center, on-site dining and babysitting services. In addition, guests can take advantage of Disney Extra Magic Hours, normally a Disney
resort benefit, as well as free park transportation and character breakfasts.
Rooms feature coffeemakers and high-speed Internet in a clean, modern setting. Rates start at $74 for a regular room and $189 for a junior suite in 2009.
Wows and Woes
The property really is stunning with a tropical resort feel. The pool area is incredible, and the hot tub is the perfect place to enjoy a cool drink. Even better, the location is right in the middle of Downtown Disney, with easy access to the many shops and restaurants.
At times, the shuttle service was slow, so allow plenty of flexibility for travel.
Insider Tips
A ferry takes guests from Downtown Disney to the Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside resorts. While you can't use the pool at these resorts unless you are a resort guest, you can eat, rent boats or just walk around at these beautiful Disney resorts. You can even take a carriage ride under the trees.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
Being able to walk to Downtown Disney was a nice luxury. We ate several meals there, and it was great to have so many choices just outside our hotel. After dinner, we could look in the shops, get dessert at Goofy's Candy Company and then just walk back to our room, without having to worry about parking or transportation.
Bottom Line
The Hilton Hotel at Downtown Disney offers the experience and advantages of staying at Disney with larger rooms and lower rates.
