Find healthy breakfast selections in San Francisco.
Healthy meal selections exist on any menu. However, a few restaurants in
San Francisco have taken some of the guesswork out and pride themselves on preparing and serving healthy, organic and locally grown food. If you are in the mood for a breakfast that does not stick with you all day, seek restaurants with flexibility in preparation methods and a menu that focuses on more than just pancakes and sausage.
Daffodil Restaurant
The Daffodil Restaurant is a great place to enjoy fresh, organic, locally grown food. The Daffodil combines European and contemporary cuisine with a menu that changes to reflect the produce available each season. The restaurant is known for serving flavorful, petite portions, and the breakfast menu includes plenty of healthy options, including fresh juices, oatmeal and granola, eggs prepared in a variety of styles and fresh fruit.

Zazie
Zazie's is a favorite of both locals and visitors, especially the outdoor seating on the patio. Zazie's has a special "light fare" menu with items such as oatmeal, fruit and bagels. However, the main menu has plenty of healthy selections, including chicken apple sausage, an option to have your omelet made with egg whites only or substitute the home fries for fresh fruit.

Herbivore - The Earthly Grill
Herbivore has a wide variety of healthy options that is both vegan and non-vegan friendly. If you want to try a vegan lifestyle for a few hours during breakfast, try menu items like scrambled tofu, fresh fruit and vegetable juices or vegan doughnuts. There are two different locations in San Francisco and if you are visiting the area, you will probably be close to one during your stay.
