Whether you're planning a
romantic honeymoon or a relaxing vacation in paradise, Hawaii offers an experience like no other. The state is comprised of six major islands: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui and Hawaii (known as "The Big Island") welcoming seven million visitors each year.
Transportation
Oahu's Honolulu International Airport (HNL) serves as the state's entry point for most travelers. From there, you can catch a flight to neighboring islands. Car rentals, public transportation, taxis and shuttles are available on most islands.
Weather
Summer (April through November) temperatures range from 75 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter (December through March) temperatures are 68 to 80 degrees. Dress for cooler temperatures if you visit a volcano or mountain summit.
Sightseeing
Stand next to an active volcano on the Big Island, drive along the famous road to Hana on Maui or visit the USS Arizona and USS Missouri memorials at Pearl Harbor on Oahu.
Popular Activities
Luaus provide a sample of the island's rich culture, while surfing is popular along the North Shore of most islands. Other activities include helicopter tours, hiking, cycling, whale watching, golf and water sports. Cities offer shopping, art galleries and an active nightlife.
Accommodations
resorts, hotels, bed and breakfasts, rental cottages and condos are located throughout the islands.
