Hawaii Tourism Information

The Hawaiian islands offer a temperate climate, friendly people and exotic foods, all without having to exchange money or worry about a passport. Travel to the islands and experience the Aloha spirit, the spirit of friendship and welcome, for yourself.
Seasons

Hawaii lies reasonably close to the equator. As a result, travel is comfortable at any time of year as the islands don't truly have seasonal variation. It's a few degrees warmer in the summer, but rain is an almost daily occurrence in this tropical environment.

Popular

Oahu contains the island's capital and is the most-visited island, offering a plethora of tourist activities. Next in popularity is Maui. Kauai tends to be the least-touristy island, so choose the island that best fits your travel profile.

Accommodations

While hotels run the gamut from 5-star resorts to basic hotels with few amenities, most families prefer to stay in a condominium that offers services such as a full kitchen and washer and dryer. Condominiums are plentiful on the islands, though you need to book early for peak seasons.

Peak Travel

Summer vacations, when the kids are out of school, tends to be quite busy. Spring break is also a popular time and hotels are often fully booked. Low tourist times occur in the early fall and winter.

Getting There

Most airlines travel to Hawaii through the main airport in Honolulu on Oahu, where you can connect to an inter-island flight if Oahu is not your final destination. There are a growing number of flights directly to Maui and Kauai.
