Manhattan offers a number of fine dining restaurants.
There are restaurants encompassing every type of cuisine to satisfy those with every imaginable budget in Midtown Manhattan. Home to tourist destinations and landmarks such as Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center and the Theater District, Midtown fills with businessmen and women during day and revelers at night. As with most cities, restaurants come and go, but these are three of the highest rated that have weathered the recession and have real staying power.
Sugiyama Restaurant
Traditional Japanese fare, this restaurant located in the Theater District serves a three-, five-, six- and eight-course meal. The three course meal is less expensive during dinner hours. The five-course standard meal is less expensive than the Modern Kaiseki eight-course meal. There is a vegetarian option available with an advance reservation and request. Reservations are requested.

La Bernardin
La Bernardin is a top-rated restaurant by Zagat across various categories including most popular, top service, best French and best seafood. The restaurant is owned by French-born Eric Ripert, who also owns 10 Arts in Philadelphia, Weekend Bistro in Washington D.C., and two restaurants in the Cayman Islands. Notably, there is a seven course tasting menu that can include with wine pairing, but it is relatively expensive. Some of the main courses on the menu include tuna, octopus, striped bass and surf and turf. If you have the money to spare, this three Michelin-starred restaurant in the Theater District is thought by many to be among the best.

Buddakan
It's more of an upscale chain, opened and operated by the Starr Restaurant Organization. The Chelsea located Modern Asian restaurant is known as much for its atmosphere as it is the food. As a mid-price restaurant it is a top place for group dining as well as for singles, and one of the many places you are likely to spot a star or two.
