The Menger Hotel
This hotel has a colorful history. Legend has it that Robert E. Lee rode a horse right through the Menger's halls. Ulysses S. Grant stayed at the Menger Hotel, and so did other notable individuals. Renovations and additions were made to the original hotel. It now spans a city block. Each comfortable room is uniquely furnished. Amenities include free high speed Internet access, 24-hour room service and morning coffee in the Victorian lobby. There are many delights to be found in the Menger, such as the sheltered courtyard garden and the player piano in the lobby. Guests can enjoy the fitness center, the outdoor pool or have a delicious meal in the Colonial Room Restaurant. The Menger Bar was added to the hotel in 1887. A replica of the House of Lords Pub in London, this richly appointed setting was where Teddy Roosevelt signed up many of his Rough Riders. The Menger Hotel is smoke-free.
