Las Vegas is overflowing with fun things to do. It is a city entirely devoted to entertaining tourists and getting them to spend money there. There is something for everyone. Gamblers and non gamblers, party seekers and families, high rollers and budget travelers can all find fun things to do in Vegas. Here are some suggestions.
Gambling
This is the reason most people visit Las Vegas. If you are a gambler, Las Vegas is the ultimate place to do it. Wander into the high roller casinos like Wynn, Caesar's Palace or Bellagio and watch players risk thousands of dollars on every hand. Then move over to the cheaper tables and play what you can afford. Las Vegas offers casinos to suit every gambler's taste. They range from glamorous to seedy to theme park like. If you are on a budget, play at low roller casinos like Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon or Imperial Palace. They have one dollar tables and penny slots.
Street Entertainment
There are fun things to do in Vegas just walking down the street. The Las Vegas Strip features sidewalk shows throughout the day and evening. The Bellagio fountain dances to music every 15 minutes in the evening and every half hour the rest of the day. The Treasure Island pirate show runs four times a night weather permitting. The Mirage volcano erupts every hour in the evenings.
Shows
Las Vegas features entertainment for every taste. There are Broadway quality shows, kid oriented shows, and adult-only entertainment. Performers like Elton John and Cher are Vegas regulars. Shows like Cirque du Soleil, Phantom, and Blue Man Group are world class spectacles. The Tournament of Kings is a jousting show that children love. Chippendales, Folies Bergere, and Jubilee have nudity.
Clubbing
There are plenty of fun things to do in Las Vegas if you like to go clubbing. The city is crowded with trendy bars and clubs. The best known are Pure at Caesar's Palace, Rumjungle at Mandalay Bay, Tabu at the MGM Grand, and Risque at Paris. Be sure to dress up and bring lots of cash.
Downtown
Get away from the Las Vegas Strip and take a short taxi ride to Downtown Las Vegas. It provides you with a completely different Las Vegas experience. This is the original seedy Vegas, not the cleaned up version you see on the Strip. Don't miss the Fremont Street experience. It is a 6-minute light show on a giant screen spanning several city blocks.
