Fun Things to Do in Ohio With Kids

The Buckeye State is a great place to visit for the whole family. Known for many things, including the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, this Midwest state has so many fun activities to offer the kids, they may never want to leave.
Amusement Parks and Water Parks

Ohio has two major amusement parks, Cedar Point and Paramount's Kings Island. Situated near Cleveland and Cincinnati, respectively, you can't miss them. Both have water parks conveniently located nearby, so if a day at the amusement park isn't enough, you can visit a water park the next day. The amusement and water parks are open from May to October.

As for other water parks, Columbus has Zoombezi Bay, an outdoor water park that also has games and rollercoasters and is a popular destination for many families. Zoombezi Bay is open during the warm months, but if you are traveling to Ohio in the winter, don't worry, Ohio also boasts seven indoor water parks for the kids to enjoy all year long.

Zoos

Ohio is home to many zoos, but the one that draws most of the attention is the Columbus Zoo. The Columbus Zoo has been ranked the No. 1 zoo in the country by USA Travel Guide, and owes much of this honor to the world famous Jack Hanna, director of the Columbus Zoo. The Columbus Zoo is open year-round and the hours depend on the season.

Educational Experiences

There are many educational and fun experiences to explore in Ohio. In Columbus there is COSI Columbus, a discovery-based experience that hosts more than 300 interactive activities and exhibits, is open year-round and is a true delight for the kids.

Cleveland is the host to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum where numerous musical artists from around the world have been inducted. The museum provides an educational and fun experience for the whole family to enjoy, with more than 25 exhibits, movie theaters and interactive activities spread over seven floors.

Cincinnati boasts the Cincinnati Aquarium, or the Newport Aquarium. This aquarium holds more than 7,000 fresh water and seawater animals from all over the world. It has amazing underwater tunnels to give you and the kids a glimpse of the aquatic creature's world from all angles.

Outdoor Activities

In addition to the amusement parks, zoos and education experiences Ohio has to offer, the state also has many outdoor activities. Between the many beautiful state parks, Indian caverns, and rivers and lakes, there are ample places for family picnics, fishing, camping and hiking.
