Just 22 miles away from downtown Detroit, Livonia is ideally-situated for those who want to stay away from the high prices and bustle of Detroit but still want easy access to its many attractions and comforts. Aside from great savings, Livonia also offers visitors chances for shopping, entertaining and fun within the city limits.
Art Is In Market

Even non-art lovers would love this artsy place. A cool concept combining exhibit gallery with a store and a "year-round art fair," this is a great destination for those who want to know the up and coming artists of the area and those who are in the market for some funky decorations for their own homes. Everything from paintings to sculptures to jewelry to pottery can be found here, and while prices are not cheap (think mid-hundreds and ups for the smaller, simpler pieces), objects are not mass produced, so you'll end up with something unique and handmade.

Henry Ford Museum

Just 15 minutes from Livonia is the Henry Ford Museum, a large complex comprised of both indoor and outdoor exhibits covering the history of Michigan and the impact the automotive industry had in shaping the nation. The museum is also home to some unique vehicles, including the JFK limousine, an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, a 1890s 10-person bicycle and the Rosa Parks bus. There's an IMAX theater in the premises and visitors can also make their way to Greenfield Village, a 240-acre outdoor complex showcasing everything from 17th century farming equipment to a recreation of Thomas Edison laboratory.

Laurel Park Place

One of Michigan's largest shopping centers, Laurel Park Place houses over 70 stores, a AMC movie theater, a spa and a large food court. Bar Louie is especially popular among the locals because of its oversized sandwiches and exotic beers. Special events are held here throughout the year, including egg painting and photo opportunities during Easter (the Easter Bunny is around for the occasion), travel shows and exhibits and pet adoption specials. Bookstock, a massive sale of used books and media (especially DVDs) takes place here at the end of April.
