beach is the largest city in Virginia and the 40th largest city in the
United States. The
resort area offers nearly 100 places to stay, from bed and breakfasts to motels to luxury beachfront hotels. Virginia Beach is also home to 249 parks and park facilities, encompassing over 4,000 acres.
Location
Virginia Beach is a resort city on the Atlantic Ocean --- about 200 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., 100 miles southeast of Richmond, VA and 200 miles northeast of Raleigh, NC.
Beaches
Virginia Beach boasts 35 miles of waterfront property. Pets are welcome on the public sand beaches from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
Recreation
There are three public golf courses to choose from. Bow Creek, Kempsville Greens and Red Wing Lake all offer private and group lessons with PGA pros.
Fun Fact
The city is home to the annual East Coast Surfing Championships. The ECSC is a major amateur event for the United States Surfing Federation.
Famous Ties
Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, rapper Pharrell Williams and The Apprentice 3 winner Kendra Todd have all lived in Virginia Beach.
