Rapid City, South Dakota, is located in the Black Hills and is the perfect base from which to explore Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, and Crazy Horse Memorial, among other Black Hills attractions. Travelers often want to bring their pets along, but it can be hard to find hotels that accept pets. There are some hotels in the area that accept pets, although you should check with the hotel for any changes to their pet policy and charges before you book with them.

Pets of all sizes are welcome at this La Quinta Inn, and there is no extra charge. This nonsmoking hotel has South Dakota's largest indoor water park. Guest rooms feature high-speed Internet access, dataport telephones, cable television, coffee makers, microwave ovens and voicemail. Plenty of free parking is available. Guests can use the hotel's fitness center, and a free "Bright Side Breakfast" is served each morning.

Foothills Inn
This boutique hotel is located right next to the Black Hills National Forest. Pets under 25 pounds are welcome with a $10 per day charge. The hotel's 65 spacious rooms feature large windows, high-pressure showers, coffee makers, hairdryers, cable television with HBO and wireless Internet access. A few of the rooms have refrigerators and microwave ovens. Continental breakfast is served each morning, and a Perkins Family Restaurant and Bakery is next to the hotel.

Best Western Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center

There is no charge for small pets at the Best Western Ramkota, but guests must inform the hotel that an animal is in the room. The hotel also requires that pets never be left alone in the room. The Best Western Ramkota has a large indoor water park, indoor heated pool and whirlpool, a fitness room and free Internet access. Minerva's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Small or medium-size dogs are welcome at the Country Inn. Cats are not. There is a $20 per night charge and $10 per night for each additional pet. Guests have free access to the hotel's pool and the fitness center.

Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza
There are no size restrictions on pets at this Holiday Inn, and the charge is a one-time $15.90 per pet. The Holiday Inn has a pool, fitness center and sauna. Rooms offer a variety of amenities, including Internet access, cable television and a work center. The Tiffany Grill restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel's atrium. The Fountain Piano Lounge serves cocktails in a lush, green setting.
