Akron Civic Theater

Akron Civic Theater is a cultural landmark in the community, providing quality shows and performances for 70 years. The theater has been restored and is well worth a visit. The Akron Civic Theater provides free admission for everyone. Intermission is 20 minutes long. When the lobby lights flash, that means it is time to return to your seat because the performance is about to continue. Food and a wide selection of beverages are available at the concessions floor on the mezzanine. Beer, wine, soda, coffee and bottled water are available for purchase and may be taken back to your seat.

Akron Art Museum

Akron Art Museum first opened its doors in 1922. Exhibitions include paintings, folk art, sculptures and photography. Appraisals and art reviews may be scheduled by calling ahead. There is plenty of activity going on, including workshops for the community involving recycling, interracial marriages and drawing classes for the younger set. School tours are available for kindergarten through 12th grade, and internships are possible. Lectures and films, poetry, music, and concerts are traditions. Call ahead for a schedule of events.

Akron Police Department Museum

Akron Police Department Museum has on display an array of confiscated weaponry from raids or busts. Narcotics and gambling paraphernalia are also part of the exhibitions. Counterfeit money seized by the police may be examined--can you tell the difference? Police uniforms through the years are shown, and a collection of more than 200 photographs are on display.
