The Best Florida Beaches Near Orlando, Florida
Orlando, Florida, is a popular destination visited each year by people around the world. It has a lot to offer, including a number of recognizable theme parks, several museums, many art exhibits, zoos, native wildlife habitats, shopping, dining and more. Orlando's location places it near the center of the state within a few hours of some of the best Florida beaches on the east and west coasts. Take a short trip either direction to enjoy the waves of Cocoa beach or relax on the beautiful sandy Gulf Coast beaches.
Cocoa Beach

The closest beach to Orlando is Cocoa Beach, about 60 miles to the southeast. This is the beach to visit if you enjoy incoming waves, which provide lots of fun for surfing and boogie boarding. The famous Ron Jon Surf Shop is located here, along with an array of other seaside shops and beach kiosks offering rentals of all kinds. Cocoa Beach Pier (pictured above) offers fantastic views, and there a variety of beachfront hotels, restaurants, fishing spots and shops nearby.

Clearwater Beach

This Gulf Coast beach is about 100 miles southwest of Orlando. This beach is an island that has several hotels, shops, restaurants and a fully operational marina offering a number of fun activities, including fishing, touring boats and several water sports such as parasailing, water biking and jet skiing. Clearwater Beach has a pier and public beach area. The sand is sparkling white and very soft compared with the east coast beaches of the state. The water is shallow, usually tranquil and provides plenty of shells to collect.

St. Pete Beach

This intriguing Gulf Coast beach is about 110 miles southwest of Orlando, a little south of Clearwater Beach. St. Pete Beach's location borders the Gulf of Mexico and the intracoastal waterway. Here, you can take in the pristine, soft, white, sandy beaches, feel cool breezes and enjoy the gentle water. Along the beach, you will find plenty to do, including several charming stores and boutiques to explore; eateries, surf shops and bars to stop at; a number of resorts; motels; and the famous and striking Mediterranean-styled "Pink Palace" (Don CeSar Beach resort).
