The Kenai River is home to the greatest salmon fishing in the world. The king salmon is the prize of all the salmon species; the largest taken from the Kenai was listed at 97 pounds. King salmon of 50 pounds or more are regularly taken by anglers. In addition to the king, fishermen also go after silver, sockeye and red salmon along with trout.

Homer
Homer, Alaska, is known as the halibut capital of the fishing world. It's quite common for fishermen to land halibut that weigh more than 100 pounds. The annual Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby is a big competition for halibut fishermen, and significant cash prizes are awarded. Salmon and steelhead are also fished for regularly in Homer.

Juneau
Juneau is one of the biggest cities in Alaska, as well as a great destination for fishing. Juneau offers saltwater and freshwater fishing and is home to one of the biggest and oldest fishing derbies in the state. Salmon, steelhead, rainbow trout and halibut are all plentiful in Juneau.
