Villa Park, California, originally known for its agricultural production of walnuts, citrus, grapes and apricots, has grown tremendously since it was founded in the 1960s. Villa Park is bordered on all sides by the city of Orange, which expanded right through Villa Park. The cities' residents held their incorporations to remain separate, stating that the zoning practices were unfair and unwelcome.
Location
Villa Park is located in the northern part of Orange County, California. Orange County is one of the southern-most counties in California, bordering the Pacific Ocean.
History
It wasn't until after the Mexican-American War in 1850 that the Villa Park area became part of the United States. More than a century later, Villa Park was officially incorporated in 1962.
Demographics
Although Villa Park has the lowest population in Orange County, it is not the smallest in area. Approximately 6,000 people make up almost 2,000 households. The median income for each household is $116,203.
Government
Villa Park's government is made up of five elected council members who serve four-year terms.
Notable Residents
Actor Kevin Costner graduated from Villa Park High School in 1973. A basketball player from Syracuse University, Sean Williams, was also raised in VIlla Park.
