Denver as one of the largest metropolitan areas of the U.S., tourism and commerce thrive in Colorado. Knowing some facts about tourism and commerce before you travel in Colorado will give you some valuable information for planning your trip.
Rivers
There are almost 20 rivers that begin in Colorado and are directed by the Continental Divide. These rivers are well-known for their white-water rafting which is a popular activity for tourists.
Astor House
The first stone hotel built west of the Mississippi River was built in Golden, Colorado by Seth Lake in 1867.
Flat Tax
Colorado is one of only seven states in the United States to have a flat rate personal income tax, which helps to foster commerce.
Beer Production
Also home to the Coors brewery, Colorado has more microbreweries than any other state in the United States.
Parks
With over 200 parks within the city limits and over 200,000 acres of park in the nearby mountains, Denver has the largest park system in the United States.
Federal Government
Colorado hosts multiple headquarters for divisions of the U.S. Government, which greatly adds to local commerce. Additionally, the United States Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs.
