History

Part of the Cherokee culture prior to the turn of the century, Helen became active in the Georgia gold rush during the mid-1800s and became a large timber producing area in early 1900.

The architecture represents the decorative style and features of a Bavarian Alpine village, including cobblestone pathways and gingerbread facades.

Helen has many festivals throughout the year including Oktoberfest, Alpine Festival-Arts and Crafts, Atlantic Hot Air Balloon Race & Festival and Bavarian Nights of Summer.
