Visit the Battery

Battery Park, commonly referred to as "The Battery," is a promenade in central Charleston, known for its stately antebellum homes. The site also boasts large oak trees, a grandstand and a variety of monuments and artillery dating back to the Civil War era.

Tour the Gibbes Museum of Art

Located in Charleston's historic district, the Gibbes Museum of Art features more than 10,000 works of art. Highlights include works by Charleston and other southern artists and art from the American Colonial period.

Explore the Fort Sumter National Monument

Located in Charleston Harbor, this fort, built during the War of 1812, is best known for being the site of the first shot of the American Civil War. Today, the masonry fort has been restored and visitors can take a ferry out to the site, walk the ramparts and tour the view a film about the history of Fort Sumter.
