Fun Things to Do in San Francisco for Young Adults
San Francisco is located along the center of the west coast in California and is the fourth most populated city in the state. It is an internationally traversed tourist destination and is popular for its idyllic scenery, architecture and world-famous landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars and Chinatown. Though San Francisco is an excellent place for people at any age, there are a number of excellent attractions for young adults.
Alcatraz Island
It is difficult not be familiar with the island of Alcatraz. It is located near the coast of San Francisco and is a must-see for any visitor. Young adults will particularly be fascinated with the islands infamous history that has been captured in various Hollywood movies. Up until 1964 when it shut down, the island once housed the wildest of prisoners in the United States, including mobster Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelly and Leon "Whitey" Thompson.

The Castro District
The Castro district of San Francisco may be a little too liberal for older folks. The gay community has planted its roots in the Castro district and considers the area its home within San Francisco. Visit the area and enjoy a variety restaurants and shops. One noted section of the neighborhood is between 17th and 20th Streets, an economically thriving area where you may find items in shops that aren't sold in the rest of the city. Note that not everyone here is part of the GLBTQ community and you don't need to be, either, in order to enjoy this exciting community.

Fisherman's Wharf
The Fisherman's Wharf is a quintessential, picture perfect attraction in San Francisco and is an exciting environment that attracts tourists by the dozens. It is located along the edge of the Pacific Ocean and is the ideal place to observe the rolling fog across the water. Despite the excellent scenery, Fisherman's Wharf offers much more than a gorgeous view. Here you'll be able to purchase retail kitsch, sample Dungeness crab and clam chowder, cruise the Bay and learn about San Francisco's rich fisherman culture.
