New York City is one of the world's largest cities. Over eight million people make New York their home. The city is located in the middle of the eastern seaboard of the continental
United States. New York City has much to offer visitors during the day. You can visit many museums, tour the city's zoos, stroll through the cultivated wilds of Central Park or grab a midtown lunch at a famous restaurant. New York City also has much to offer after the sun goes down.
Broadway Shows
Take in a Broadway or Off-Broadway show. Broadway refers to the 40 live theaters that can be found in the theater district in Midtown Manhattan. Most shows are at night, with occasional matinee performances during the day. Tickets for Broadway shows can be purchased in advance at the specific theater, online or cheaper at TKTS booths, located in Times Square, South Street Seaport and in downtown Brooklyn (primarily sold the day of the performance). The most expensive seats are closest to the stage.
Off-Broadway shows are shows performed outside the theater district and are often slightly cheaper than Broadway performances.
Lincoln Center
See a performance at Lincoln Center. The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is home to several important national arts companies, including both the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, the New York Philharmonic, New York Opera and Metropolitan Opera. A ballet performance at Lincoln will traditionally involve live orchestral music and last roughly two hours with intermission. Tickets can be purchased online or in person. Bring binoculars if you are seated farther from the stage.
Dining Out
Eat dinner at one of New York City's many fine dinning establishments. New York is home to thousands of restaurants, some among the finest in the world. One of the most celebrated is The Four Seasons Restaurant, which features original artwork by famed artists such as Miro, Picasso and Pollock. The restaurant focuses on contemporary cuisine that seeks to bring out the flavor of each season. Visitors can expect to find certain items such as seafood, wild game and freshly prepared, high-quality meats.
