Things to Do in May in New York City

Springtime is Paris might be more famous, but spring in New York City definitely takes a close second. Although the air is crisp, May temperatures in the Big Apple are pleasant enough to allow for enjoyable city strolls through places like Central Park and Lincoln Center, or on board a sightseeing cruise along the Hudson. Baseball season is in full swing, so don't forget to take in a Yankees game, or two.

Offering rides to the Statue of Liberty, Circle Line cruise company has just introduced its new borough boats, the Circle Line Brooklyn and Circle Line Queens. The popular sightseeing company has been entertaining visitors since 1945. Boats depart daily from Pier 83 at West 42nd Street.

Attend the Ballet at The Met

In spring, the Metropolitan Opera House is home to American Ballet Theatre, which presents classic ballets as well as works by contemporary choreographers. America's only national ballet company, American Ballet Theatre tours internationally throughout the year. The landmark theater is located at Lincoln Center, Columbus Ave at 65th Street.

Tour a Private Estate

Once a private estate, Wave Hill offers a 28-acre garden and cultural center that includes an opulent, 19th-century mansion overlooking the Hudson Valley. Located in the Bronx, this fantasy getaway costs just $6 and is accessible via train. Concerts, brunches and art workshops are offered. Located on Independence Avenue at West 249th Street.
