Taking children on vacation can be a stressful time for some parents. But if you plan the trip correctly, a fun and memorable time can be had for all. When you are visiting upstate
New York, there are plenty of ideal stops for adults, but you may find yourself desperate when trying to entertain the children. Luckily, this list features some of the most popular children attractions and things to do in upstate New York.
Santa's Workshop
Get your children into the holiday mood with a visit to a duplication of Santa's Workshop. Located in Wilmington, NY children can experience a true to life workshop as they witness toy makers, rides, and interact with actual reindeer. The workshop is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. so you can get your Christmas spirit in during the summer as well.
Natural Stone Bridge and Caves
Introduce your children to nature in Pottersville, New York. This park features trails, waterfalls and caves for the little adventurers to travel in. After all of the hiking you can relax and enjoy some fishing by the water and a picnic.
Country Dreams Farm
Step into life without computers, cell phones, or television as your children visit the 1800s recreations at the Country Dreams Farm. Here children can dip candles, take hay rides and learn about New York farming history. There is also a gift shop so children can take home souvenirs from this memorable trip.
Old Forge Amusement Parks
Two amusement parks it side by side in the city of Old Forge New York. The first is named the Enchanted Forest and features 14 exciting rides for children to go on. The second park is named the "Water Safari" and features a wave pool and over 15 water slides.
Adirondack Scenic Railroad
Stick around Old Forge to take a scenic ride aboard a one hour train trip that travels around a river and through other scenic areas. Children live love being on a real old fashioned train and the ride will be a relaxing rest among busier trips around upstate New York.
Frontier Town
Bring out the Texan in your child with a visit to the Western themed Frontier town. Along with rides, children can watch Wild West Shows, rodeos and experience western style food. The park is open from May until September, so plan a trip to Frontier Town in the Summer.
Tubby Tubes
Take your children on a river tubing adventure in Lake Luzerne, NY. The Tubby Tubes Company provides safe guided trips along the Hudson River. Their trips last for over two miles of water and provide all the necessary transportation and training for all ages.
