The Boardwalk lights up at night
Disney's Boardwalk Inn is stylized recreation of the early 20th century
resorts that once dotted the Atlantic coast, especially along the Jersey shore. This Deluxe
resort features an almost overwhelming number of entertainment and recreation options, and great access to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot just a short walk away.
Wows and Woes
Wows: This hotel has so many options for dining, entertainment and shopping you almost don't need the theme parks. Boardwalk features a dance hall, piano bar with dueling pianos, ESPN Zone restaurant and wandering entertainers. There's even a microbrewery here offering some pretty good brews.
Woes: The price. This is a very expensive resort and while you get a "deluxe" experience, you pay a deluxe price. To put it in perspective, a room here (and at other Disney Deluxe resorts) can cost more than a room at famous high-end hotels such as the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
Insider Tips
Want to see the Epcot fireworks without the crowd? Watch them from here. You won't get the music or narration, or see the World Showcase nations light up during the show, but you will have a great view of everything in the sky and you won't have to fight the crowds leaving the park afterwards. Watch from Big River with a table, chairs and some beverages to really add to the experience.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
I've spent many nights on the Boardwalk going through each of the beers offered at the Big River Grille & Brewing Works. Then, with a few friends and our own supply of beverages, I like to sit on the balcony of my room overlooking the Boardwalk as the stilt-walkers, jugglers and other entertainers toy with the tired guests returning from their own long days of park-hopping.
Bottom Line
Disney's Boardwalk is a great resort, with food, activities and entertainment options for just about every age group and interest. Just be prepared to pay dearly for the experience.
