Colorado Vacation Guide
Though the first thing that may cross your mind when you think of Colorado is the Rocky Mountains, this state has much more to offer than just great mountain scenery. Whether you're looking for an active vacation, or just want to rest and relax, there's likely the right destination for you in Colorado.
Denver
Metropolitan Denver is home to a number of museums, sports teams and cultural events. Popular museums include the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Art Museum, and Children's Museum of Denver.
Front Range
The Front Range, a region which contains the cities of Boulder, Fort Collins, and Estes Park, is the gateway to the Rocky Mountains. Popular activities in this region include hiking, rafting, horseback riding and mountain biking.
Northeastern Colorado
With its lakes and flat prairie grasslands, northeastern Colorado is an excellent destination for recreational boaters and hunters.
Northwestern Colorado
The main draws in northwestern Colorado are ski areas including Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Winter Park and several others. This region is also home to Dinosaur National Monument. In addition to seeing excavated dinosaur bones here, you can also take a rafting trip through the monument's river canyon.
Southwestern Colorado
Southwestern Colorado is home to the San Juan Mountains, mesas and hot springs, among other natural attractions. Aficionados of ancient cultures will want to check out Mesa Verde National Park, Hovenweep National Monument and the Anasazi Heritage Center.
Southeastern Colorado
The plains of southeastern Colorado are home to the remnants of the Santa Fe Trail. The Trinidad History Museum is a great place to learn about the area's history.
Sports
Depending on the season, you may be able to catch a Denver Broncos game at Invesco Field, a Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field, a Denver Nuggets game at Pepsi Center or a Colorado Avalanche game also at the Pepsi Center.
