Children's Activities in Philadelphia

The city of Philadelphia is known also as the "City of Brotherly Love." It is a city with plenty of entertainment options for your children as well. There are parks throughout town for them to enjoy playing at such as the one at Rittenhouse Square, but there are also other organized activities. The city of Philadelphia offers educational activities for your children, sporting events they can watch, and even a touring vehicle that goes on both land and sea.
Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art provides you with an educational activity that you can do with your children that is also entertaining. On Sundays in particular, there are special tours for children in which they get to participate in activities such as painting, learning about animals and playing with clay depending on the week that you go. All of these activities are free with the paid admission into the museum.

There are also family activities on Sundays where the parents and children participate together in playing games, painting and searching for different items in the museum just to name a few activities available. Other days during the week children can go on self-guided tours with their parents.

Ride The Ducks

If you want a unique riding tour of the city of Philadelphia, take it on a duck. For $26 for adults and $16 for children three to twelve years old you can go on a tour of Philadelphia on a duck-shaped vehicle. This vehicle can ride on the streets of Philadelphia, and go through the water as well! You will join a group of other sightseers on the duck and see the history of Philadelphia. This involves seeing sites like Liberty Hall, Independence Hall, South Street and even The Philadelphia Mint for collectors. When boarding The Duck you receive a quacker to draw attention to the vehicle from other passers by as you make the quacking sounds using it. This quacker can also get you discounts at restaurants after your ride such as Johnny Rockets and The Hard Rock Cafe just to name a couple.

Sports

Depending on the season you go to Philadelphia, there are plenty of sports to introduce your child to. The Flyers, Phillies, Eagles and 76'ers are all professional sports teams that call The City Of Brotherly Love their home. During the winter you can catch an indoor game at the Flyers and 76'ers new arena. The Phillies also have a recently built stadium you can visit during baseball season. Lincoln Financial Park rounds out the new stadiums that Philadelphia teams have received, and is home to the Philadelphia Eagles. Whatever professional sport your child enjoys, Philadelphia has an offering to entertain him.
