Review of the Chambers Hotel in New York City

The Chambers hotel is located in the heart of the Big Apple. It's within walking distance of Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall and numerous other city attractions. The rooms are mid-level chic. It probably was one of the trendiest in town when the hotel first opened but is now a little past its prime. Considering that the hotel is smack-dab in the middle of midtown, the space is surprisingly quiet. Standard rates range from $360 to $420 a night.
Wows and Woes

Wows:
In New York, it's all about location. The Chambers puts you in the middle of the Manhattan universe. If you want to have lunch near Columbus Circle, check out the art at MOMA or see the symphony at Carnegie Hall; you are literally steps away.

Woes:
The hotel is not ideally located if you're into nightlife. The Chambers attracts an older crowd. The young and stylish visitors are all staying closer to the clubs at hotels below 14th Street.

Insider Tips

The concierge of the hotel can probably snag you a few tickets to a hot Broadway show, but you're likely to get a better price at the TKTS booth in Times Square, which is only a few blocks away. Ask the staff about it and they'll point you in the right direction.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I'm always a sucker for a posh martini, and The Chambers has the perfect lounge for a quiet, stylish drink. I prefer to snag one of the couches after a night walking around the neighborhood. It's the perfect way to wind down.

Bottom Line

The Chambers is a comfortable choice--not the cheapest in town, but you can't beat the location.
