Canaan Valley Resort is quite rustic, so if you're looking for luxurious accommodations, stay elsewhere. Only one restaurant is located inside the resort, but others are within driving distance. Skiiers often complain that Canaan Valley needs more snow making, but shorter lines and waiting times for skiing makes up for that.

When my family stayed at Canaan Valley Resort in the springtime, my 5 year old son was amazed to see deer right outside our lodge room window. As we ventured outside to take a walk, the deer weren't afraid of us and didn't even move. We probably could have fed them from our hands, but I didn't want to risk my son getting bitten by such a lovely, docile animal.
