Napa Valley
California is known for its great wineries. The climate in California and ample land has made it an ideal location for growing vineyards and bringing delicious wine to the world. California wineries produce more than 90 percent of all wine consumed in the
United States each year. While there are more than 2,000 local producers in the state, 35 large wineries are responsible for 85 percent of those cases. There are many great wineries in the world, but California definitely has some of the best.
South Coast Winery
More than just a winery, this spa and resort was named the state winery of the year in California by the California State Fair. Each of its 76 villas has a fireplace, spa and terrace that overlooks the vineyards. Of course you can taste many different wines and then unwind with a meal at the Mediterranean restaurant or have a treatment at the day spa. It's a beautiful setting for a weekend getaway and close enough to downtown Temecula that you can go shopping, take in some sights or even visit other local wineries.

Spring Mountain Vineyard
Set on 845 acres, this unique beauty is fairly new to Napa Valley. The variations of elevation provide great grounds for using different growing techniques and bringing out various flavors from the grapes. The 1980s soap opera "Falcon Crest" used the property's mansion at the front of the show, so the land is rich with history. The current tour includes a tour of the caves, a barn with artifacts and wine tasting inside the mansion.
