Being single can be hard, but it also can be an exciting, fun time before the responsibilities of marriage and children set in. Being single can be difficult if you're living in the wrong place, however. Below you'll find some of the best places to live for singles based on cost of living, coolness, culture and number of singles.
San Francisco, California
San Francisco has a large single population so it's a good spot to find that special someone. The city has a rich culture, amazing views and a nightlife that can be rivaled only by Los Angeles and New York. While it's not the most affordable city for singles, being the epicenter of the technology industry means there are plenty who can afford the high cost of living.
New York, New York
Ranking high on the cool-o-meter, New York City has to be a single's dream. In a city this full of singles there shouldn't be any lonely weekends. The most culturally diverse city in the U.S., New York offers plenty of options for enjoying the arts, from the many museums to theatrical productions on Broadway as well as Off-Broadway.
Los Angeles, California
With over a third of the city unmarried, Los Angeles has plenty of opportunities to date, and with its health-conscious reputation those you meet should be in pretty good shape to boot. As the center of the entertainment industry there are plenty of events to keep one busy, combined with amazing restaurants and a stellar nightlife. No single living in Los Angeles should find herself bored or lonely.
Atlanta, Georgia
Home to Coca-Cola and CNN and the other Turner Broadcasting networks, as well as professional baseball and football teams, Atlanta is the home of the single young professional. With some of the best nightlife in the South, Atlanta also offers museums, art galleries and other cultural outlets. There's also a huge music scene in the city, so not only might you run into one of your favorite R&B or hip-hop artists, but it's a good place to experience concerts and other music events, perfect for dates with that special someone.
Chicago, Illinois
A third of the Windy City's population is single. Chicago's rich cultural history lets singles visit museums, listen to the world-renowned symphony orchestra and go to art galleries. Chicago has a vibrant nightlife and other cool activities such as the Taste of Chicago and the outdoor films shown in the summer months. While young singles may have to find a roommate to meet those high rents, Chicago offers plenty to keep singles busy and entertained.
