There are a ton
beaches, both public and private, on the Jersey Shore. A distinct feature of the beaches in New Jersey is the white sand that covers the coastline. The best thing about Jersey beaches is that the night clubs, bars, restaurants, spas, golf courses, museums, live music, amusement and water parks give something for every member of the family to do. No matter what your age there is a
beach in New Jersey for you, you just have to know what's out there.
Ocean City
Ocean City is home to "America's Greatest Family resort" and has ranked No. 1 as "The Best Family Beach." The boardwalk is great for kids of all ages; every member of the family will find something to do in Ocean City. It really is all about family fun. Alcohol has been banned since 1879, so getting trashed and partying aren't going to be options. Lay down a blanket on the beautiful white sand and bring some snacks and games for the family instead.
Wildwood
Wildwood is located in southern Jersey and doesn't stress family fun as much as Ocean City, but it's definitely a place to bring the family. Everybody from toddlers to retirees will find something fun to do. Wildwood happens to be one of the best free beaches in New Jersey. The boardwalk hosts a great scene, showcasing nightclubs, bars and restaurants for visitors looking to party. The live-music and amusement parks are great for all ages. When the sun goes down, Wildwood becomes a great place for singles and couples alike.
Long Beach Island
The great thing about Long Beach Island is that its only minutes away from the casinos in Atlantic City, and the boardwalks at Wildwood and Seaside. The location makes it a great spot for the family or any group of people looking to vacation. There are numerous things to do and sights to see. Check out the Thundering Surf Water Park or the Barnegat Lighthouse.
Seaside Heights
Seaside is one of the most popular beaches on the Jersey Shore and has some of the beast beach space found in New Jersey. Seaside has something to do for guests of every age, from the water rides, to the roller-coasters, to the night scene to the boardwalk, there's an attraction around every corner at Seaside. Singles love the area, and college students flock to party on the boardwalk, taking advantage of the bars and nightclubs. This is definitely the scene for young adults and singles, but visitors of all ages balance out the atmosphere so you'll never feel out of place.
Atlantic City
As soon as you hear the name "Atlantic City", you instantly think high-price hotels, big-game spenders hitting the casinos, Lamborghinis driving down the strip and a great night life. Well, you're right. There are 13 hotel-casinos, incredible nightclubs and the first-ever wooden boardwalk. If partying isn't your style, you can try a massage or 18 holes at the local golf course to relax. Storybook Land and the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum give the kids something to do.
Cape May
In a total 360 spin from Atlantic City, Cape May offers a classic Victorian beach style that has relaxation written all over it. This is the definition of a laid-back beach scene, and if that's what you're looking for, this is the spot to hit in Jersey. Wander the area and take a look at the beautiful Victorian buildings and historic restaurants. The town's slogan is, "The Nation's Oldest Seashore Resort." Take a ride on the Cape May Ferry or climb the Cape May Lighthouse if you're looking for some adventure on your vacation.
