The Best Free Las Vegas Attractions

One of the best things about Las Vegas is the abundance of free things to do and see. From live music to elegant works of art, there is something for everyone, and the price is definitely right. Take a break from the slot machines and blackjack tables, grab a deep-fried Twinkie and a yard-long margarita, and go check out some of the real action.
Fremont Street Experience

Located above the pedestrian walkway in the center of downtown Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience features free musical entertainment on two stages, street performers, retail kiosks, food and drink vendors, and a $70 million light and sound show every hour on the hour. Shows begin at dusk and last until 11 p.m. weekdays and midnight Friday and Saturday.

Bellagio Conservatory

At the far end of the Bellagio's lobby you'll find its indoor botanical center. Breathtaking seasonal displays are crafted by a team of more than 100 horticulture experts who go to great lengths to create elaborately detailed, elegant floral arrangements. Open 24 hours a day, the cheerful, fresh surroundings can bring a sense of harmony to even the most travel-worn tourist.

Bellagio Water Fountains

When you've finished touring the indoor gardens, wander outside the Bellagio for a look at the fountains. Every evening, the quarter-mile lake that lies in front of the casino erupts in an skilfully choreographed display of water, music and light. And, with shows running every 15 minutes between 8 p.m. and midnight, it's easy to fit a show into just about any schedule.

Flamingo Wildlife Habitat

Given the name of the casino, it's no surprise to find a full flock of pink flamingos wandering through its 15-acre habitat. However, the turtles, fish, swans, ducks and penguins do come as a bit of a surprise. The Flamingo has more than 3,000 species in its menagerie, which is open to the public around the clock on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. on weekdays, with an hour off for lunch from 2 to 3 p.m.

Rio Masquerade Show in the Sky

Every night is Mardi Gras at the Rio hotel and casino. Every hour from 7 p.m. until midnight, a parade of dazzling fashions, stunning performers and elaborate floats passes by overhead. Suspended over the casino floor, the hourly celebration is only one of many variations of the show, so even if you've seen it, you still haven't seen it.
