In the past, Red River was home to explorers, fur trappers and prospectors who mined gold, silver and copper. Tourists discovered the area in the 1920s and 1930s and the old mining cabins became vacation get a ways. Today Red River is a place to come for peace and quite and some of the best trout fishing. The owners of these cabins have gone all out to make their cabins warm and welcoming. You have a choice of rustic cabins with no amenities or more luxurious cabins with a touch of class. You can pick the type of cabin that fits your definition of the best.
Tall Pine Resort
Tall Pine resort opened in 1920 as mine headquarters and cabins for rent opened in 1935 with new cabins being added in 1958. The cabins sleep from one to eight, have a fully furnished kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. All but the efficiency cabins have a separate living room and all of the cabins have front porches. These are rustic cabins with no TV or telephones. An outdoor grill is supplied and you can bring your own propane grill if you wish. Small pets are allowed. Tall Pine is open mid-May through September 30. People who come here like the peace and quite and trout fishing in the lake.

Rio Colorado Lodge
Rio Colorado Lodge has one, two and three-bedroom individual cabins with fireplaces, kitchens or kitchenettes, cable TV, a playground, barbecue and picnic area and a private fishing pond. The lodge is open year-round. It is close to the major winter sports venues in the area. Pets are allowed.

River Retreat Cabins
River Retreat Cabins opened in 2001 and the front porches are literally just steps from the river. The two-story cabins are spacious with 900 square feet of space. The exterior looks rustic, but the interiors are modern and equipped with full kitchens. Each one has three bedrooms, two on the top floor and one on the bottom. The front one upstairs has a balcony. Each cabin has a pull out sofa in the living room, bringing the maximum occupancy up to eight.
