Barbecue, BBQ, Bar-B-Que--no matter how you spell it, the name for this method of cooking is derived from the
Caribbean. Within barbecue, a few factors make the taste of the food special, including a wide range of sauces. The three restaurants below were chosen according to the author's experience, the celebrity status of the restaurant and the number of awards received by the restaurant.
Big Bob Gibson's Barbecue
Known nationally and internationally for their top-secret barbecue recipe, this is one of the best barbecue restaurants in the United States. Located in Decatur, Alabama, Big Bob is known for its Southern-style barbecue, sauces and grand-sized potatoes. The restaurant's sauces have won several national barbecue contests, and in 2000 Big Bob was named "Restaurant of the Year" by the National Barbecue Association; the restaurant was also featured in People and Southern Living magazines. Some of the menu items are barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken, smoked turkey breast, white sauce, creamy coleslaw, baked beans, baked potatoes and chips. The restaurant also offers catering, recipes and sauces on the website.

Brother Jimmy's BBQ
With six locations in the state of New York, Brother Jimmy's BBQ has hosted a number of celebrities. At the original Second Avenue location, menu items include peel-and-eat shrimp, onion straws, country fried steak, Carolina pulled pork, ribs, chicken fingers, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, sliced and pulled brisket, sandwiches and burgers. It also offers catering, special parties and barbecue to go.

Sticky Fingers
With several locations across the South, this restaurant serves Memphis-style barbecue. Sticky Fingers has fed several famous customers, such as B. B. King, Jessica Simpson, Jay Leno, Al Roker and George W. Bush. The menu items include Savannah dip, hickory-smoked ribs (with flavors like Memphis-style wet or dry, Carolina Sweet and Tennessee whiskey), pulled pork, wings, barbecue sandwiches and salads. The restaurant also offers catering services, sauces, and a general shop for Sticky Finger's merchandise and gift cards.
