Wows and Woes
The location of the Beacon hotel was excellent, being so close to the White House, Embassy Row, Dupont Circle and numerous downtown attractions.
However, Internet access costs $12 a day, and the hotel restaurant is quite pricey.
Insider Tips
Renting bicycles is a great way to see the capital and you will be able to see more in one day than you would walking.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
I loved going to the museums in Washington, D.C. I went to the Holocaust Museum. I was given a card naming a real person who was in a concentration camp when I entered. You can read all about that person's story, and find out whether they survived. I was so moved by what those poor souls had to go through. It was an unforgettable visit.
Bottom Line
The Beacon is a small comfortable hotel with friendly staff and is in a great location close to the White House and many other attractions.
