The Summer Bay
resort is
Las Vegas' best kept secret. Situated a stones throw from the Las Vegas Strip, this 19-acre resort offers expertly appointed one and two bedroom apartment suites. This place is actually an upscale apartment complex that does not have a casino. Each suite features cable television, a full kitchen and large Roman tubs. The beautiful property is more like a home away from home.
Wows and Woes
This place has something that most Strip hotels do not offer: an in-suite fireplace. Not only does each suite have a fireplace, but a washer and dryer, and wireless Internet are also provided. The resort has complimentary shuttles to the Strip, Downtown Las Vegas and area grocery stores.
Unfortunately, this place charges for all calls made from each suite. Fifty cents is charged for local calls; long distance calls are $1.50 plus long distance fees.
Insider Tips
Be aware that the resort shuttle normally stops around midnight, which is early by Vegas standards. If you are using the resort's shuttle and plan on staying out late, you may have to catch a cab back to your suite.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
I was happy beyond words to find the huge soaking tub in my suite's bathroom. I really enjoyed relaxing in the tub. It felt like a day at the spa because the resort was so quiet. I also loved the mango scented soap and lotion provided in the suite's bathroom.
Bottom Line
Summer Bay is a definite must. It offers a perfect location and great amenities. Give this place a try.
