Boardwalk
No trip to Virginia Beach is complete without visiting the Boardwalk. The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is great for taking walks, rollerblading, bicycling and going for a jog. It's also a great site for outdoor live entertainment, and is full of entertainment and game options. There is often outdoor live music, and it's almost always free. There are various dining and shopping areas of the Boardwalk as well.

Virginia Aquarium
The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center is one of the premier marine science museums in the United States. The aquarium consists of over 700,000 gallons of live animal habitats. There are countless interactive displays and exhibits at the aquarium, and there is even an IMAX 3D theater on the premises. Be sure to check out the nature trail (observation tower and salt marsh) and marsh pavilion (snakes, river otters, seahorses and more).

Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge
The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a beach, marsh refuge and woodland area, all combined into one. Spanning 7,700 acres, it serves as a sanctuary for birds, endangered species, and a plethora of other animals. Some wildlife you might spot at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge are red foxes, American bald eagles, geese, marsh hawks and much more. There are a lot of cycling and hiking trails at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The beach is also relaxing and great for recreational activities.

Old Coast Guard Station
The Old Coast Guard Station, in existence since 1903, is a museum that illustrates the history of the coast guard. It is a great place to learn about Virginia's coastal towns and rich maritime heritage and culture. There are two galleries inside of the museum, illustrating American life saving history and shipwrecks that took place off of the Virginia coast. There are over 1,000 photographic images and 1,800 artifacts and relics on display at this museum.

First Landing State Park
First Landing State Park is the most popular state park in Virginia. It is historically relevant because it is the location of the first English settlement back in 1607. Nowadays, First Landing State Park is a great place for enjoying beautiful scenery and engaging in recreational activities, including hiking, jogging, picnicking, boating, swimming and much more. There are a variety of educational and nature programs put on at the park as well.
