Activities in Vero Beach, Florida
Vero
beach is one of Florida's overlooked treasures on the east coast. Sandwiched between Daytona Beach to the north, and West Palm Beach and
Miami to the south, many vacationers have never heard of this lower Central Florida municipality. However, the fact that many may not know of it does not keep it from being a hub of activity, for those who are lucky enough to discover it and plan a visit. Like any vacation, going to Vero Beach can be as exciting or as relaxing as you want to make it.
Beach Activities
As its name suggests, the attraction in this city is the beach. The water is some of the clearest in the central portion of the state, which can lead to great times exploring, swimming and even fishing. Vero Beach offers a perfect excuse to sun on the sand, or try to catch dinner in the ocean. Other beach activities include surfing and jogging.
For those needing a place to stay, Vero Beach offers a great selection of hotels. Many of them are located on or near the water, giving visitors an extra bonus of a great view and a great room.
Indian River
Part of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Indian River boasts some of the best flats fishing and wildlife diversity on the entire Atlantic Coast in Florida. Many anglers come from all over the country to fish for redfish and sea trout near Vero Beach. Just north of Vero Beach, Sebastian Inlet State Park offers facilities for fishing, some great surfing, along with cookouts and camping. On one end of the park is the Indian River. On the other end is the Atlantic Ocean. Both are offered in one setting.

Tours
From airboat tours to kayaking, Vero Beach offers something for everyone. Both offer good chances to see the Florida alligator. In addition, touring by more traditional boat is also an option. Capt. Christy Lenz "Casual Cruising" offers just such an opportunity. For more information, call (772) 633-0987.
Equipment Rental
For those who want to enjoy the area at their own pace, bike rentals and kayaks can be rented separately. Many of the shops and other attractions can easily be reached by a bicycle. Therefore, some vacationers may find there is no other reason for other transportation. Bikes can also be ridden along the sand packed down by the ocean during low tide, providing an enjoyable way of seeing more of the beach. Kayaks offer another way to get on the water.
