Activities in Boston
Boston is a great tourist city that has activities from all kinds of sports to water fun to learning more about the patriots who helped found the country. Walking the Freedom Trail places you in the footsteps of Paul Revere, John Hancock and Samuel Adams. Boat rides take you several miles offshore, where you may experience encounters with whales and dolphins. Sports events fill the calendar year-round and include professional baseball, basketball and hockey along with college football and other sports.
Walk the Freedom Trail

The Freedom Trail is a two and a half mile red brick walking trail that weaves through Boston and highlights 16 nationally significant historic sites, such as museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, a ship and historic markers that tell the story of American patriots and the War for Independence. During your trek, you will see the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere's home and the monument celebrating the Battle of Bunker Hill. The trail starts at Boston Common, but you can pick it up at several points in the city.

See the Whales

Travel around Boston harbor by boat, or take a longer trip out on the ocean to see the whales. The area is known for humpbacks, minke and finback whales along with white-sided dolphins. Several companies operate tours that depart from the waterfront near the financial district of the city. The city's aquarium also is located nearby.

Go to the Game

Boston is a city of sports fans. The beloved baseball Red Sox play in Fenway Park, which is located south of downtown. The stadium seats less than 40,000 so tickets are at a premium. At the TD Banknorth Garden, located near the North End, you can cheer for the Celtics and Bruins. Other sports events that occur throughout the year include the Boston Marathon, crew races on the Charles River and college games at Harvard, Boston College and at the many other schools in and around the city.
