Activities in the Florida Keys
The Florida Keys, "America's Caribbean," are in the southernmost parts of the United States. Surrounded by water, this string of islands southwest of Miami are known for their sports fishing, diving, sun-filled days and relaxed lifestyle.
Explore Key West

Key West, at the southernmost tip of the Florida Keys, is home to 25,000 residents. The four-mile by two-mile island claims to be the only spot in the continental United States to never have a frost. The island draws thousands of visitors annually from all over the world. Among the attractions are the historic Old Town, numerous artists' studios, Truman's winter "White House" and the former residence of Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway.

Go Sportsfishing

From Key West to Key Largo to Islamorada, the Florida Keys offer some of the best deep-sea fishing in the country. Take a day charter out of almost any port and try your luck at catching swordfish, yellowfin tuna, marlin, mahi mahi and amberjack.

Relax in a Hammock

In addition to the active, city-center bed and breakfast inns and resorts in Key West, there are numerous luxury enclaves scattered along the Keys where the most stressful decision you'll have to make during your stay is which hammock to lie in. Among these are Hawks Cay, Little Palm Island and Tranquility Bay resort.

Witness the Sunset

The sunsets across the open water are beautiful when viewed from the Florida Keys. Of particular note is the evening sunset celebration at the end of Duval Street in Key West. As the sun declines, the party revs up with music, street performers and lots of beer. When the sun sets, the crowd applauds.
