What Activities Can You Do in Lake Tahoe?
Lake Tahoe has out of the ordinary activities that will add some excitement to any vacation. These activities in Lake Tahoe are all family-friendly. While they all have a bit of adventure in them, there are activities that allow children as young as 2 years of age. Some of these are limited to one or two seasons, but many of them can be enjoyed all year long.
White Water Rafting
Tributary Tours conducts guided, 7-mile long, white water rafting trips on the Truckee River to North Lake Tahoe. The total time, including the time it takes to get to the river, is about 3 ½ hours. It is an interactive tour, with the passengers doing most of the steering, but you get instructions and time to practice. This trip is for those ages 7 and up. There is a less challenging trip if you have children under the age of 2.

Helicopter Tours
HeliTahoe offers a 45-minute helicopter tour of Lake Tahoe. Take off from South Lake Tahoe airport and head north then turn west and fly over Emerald Bay,
Meeks Bay, Tahoe City, Kings beach, Incline Village, the Cal-Neva resort, Cave Rock and Zephyr Cove.

Dog Sledding
Sierra Ski Touring/Husky Express gives 1-hour dog sledding trips in the winter and spring through Hope Valley. There are also 2 and 3-day excursions and Snow Shoe Hut weekends. Sierra Ski Touring/Husky Express is licensed by the United States Forest, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, the Humboldt - Toiyabe National Forest, the Inyo National Forest, the Sequoia National Park.

Paddle Boat Tours
Lake Tahoe cruises has two paddle wheelers that offer different types of cruises in Lake Tahoe. One is a 2-hour narrated cruise of Emerald Bay on the Miss Dixie II. Another choice is the Sierra Sunset Dinner Dance Cruise on the Tahoe Queen, a 2 ½ hour dinner cruise at sunset complete with live music. The Sunset Cruise Dining Experience lasts 3 ½ hours and has a dance band for after dinner dancing. The MS Dixie II Showboat in Concert Cruise lasts 2 hours and features entertainment from the Nevada Civic Light Opera.

Zip Line Ride
Heavenly Mountain Resort has a new zip line ride at Adventure Peak. A gondola will take you to the top of the mountain, more than 9,000 feet. Then you are transported to the top of the zip line, the longest one in the continuous 48 states. The zip line ride last for 80 seconds and covers 3,100 feet with a 525 vertical drop, back to the gondola.
