Margarita Island is a 390 square mile piece of paradise located in the
Caribbean Sea. It is part of the Nueva Esparta State of Venezuela, and it is situated off the northern coast of the country. It can be reached by ferry or airplane from the mainland, though direct commercial flights from other regions are non-existent. This helps keep the island quiet and unspoiled, adding to its beauty and appeal. With over 106 miles of sandy
beaches, Margarita Island is a great spot for vacationers looking to swim, windsurf or lounge on the
beach. Lodging options range from truly budget accommodations to lavish
resorts.
Costa Caribe Beach Resort
The Costa Caribe resort is located on the northern section of the island, near the town of Manzanillo. The resort is home to over 400 rooms and suites, all with air conditioning and most featuring a private balcony, patio or terrace. Costa Linda Beach Hotel
The Costa Linda Beach Hotel is located on the eastern end of Margarita Island. This family owned hotel features only 40 rooms, allowing guests to have plenty of personal service and attention. Each room is beautifully furnished and many have private balconies that offer views of the sea. The pool area is lushly landscaped, with native plants and trees providing a beautiful setting for swimming and sunbathing. Lagunamar Resort
Located near the city of San Juan Bautista, this 400 room resort is one of the largest on the island. It features a spectacular pool complex, with nine pools in total. These include a slide pool, wave pool and Olympic-sized lap pool. There are also five restaurants on-site, ranging from casual buffets to romantic bistros. Live entertainment is available every night, or guests can have a drink at one of the hotel bars or the popular nightclub. The hotel is home to a private beach, as well as a lagoon where guests can take part in water sports like jet skiing, windsurfing, and kayaking. There is a large casino on site, with table games, slot machines, and a luxurious spa that offers massage and body treatments.
