Limassol is the largest resort town in Cyprus, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. Located against the sprawl of the Troodos Mountains, Limassol is a holiday destination for Cypriots as well as visitors from around Europe and the Mediterranean. Limassol's location gives it a consistent and comfortable climate for vacationers.
Location

Limassol is located on the southern coast of Cyprus, which, in turn, is located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. North of Cyprus is Turkey, South of Cyprus is Egypt and East of Cyprus is Syria. Cyprus is only about 100 miles long. Limassol's location on the coast, cradled by the Troodos mountain range, is ideal for year-round vacationing, which many Cypriots take advantage of. Limassol is on a similar longitude to South Carolina in the United States.

Summer

While summer in Cyprus is hot, especially in the interior where temperatures can climb over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius), Limassol remains quite comfortable during the summer, due to the proximity of the mountains and refreshing ocean breezes. Temperatures rarely feel much warmer than 85 degrees. Summer lasts from late May into September, with temperatures remaining consistent and rarely falling below 70, even at night. This is the dry season in Cyprus, so rain is very rare.

Fall

Fall is short in Limassol, really only starting in late September and lasting through November. The temperature remains comfortable until November, and even then the temperature can climb to 70 degrees. The temperature can drop to almost 50 degrees at night, however. It begins to rain during the fall, but averages only 2 to 3 inches for the whole season.

Winter

Winter in Limassol is cooler than much of the rest of Cyprus, due to the same breezes that make it so pleasant during the summer. Winter lasts from December to February, when the country starts to turn green again, and is the rainy season. Winter temperatures can reach 40 degrees at extremes during the night, but daytime temperatures still often climb above 60.

Spring

Spring in Limassol lasts from March into May. The temperatures begin to grow consistently warmer throughout this season, and the rain tapers off again to average only 2.5 inches or so for the whole spring. Evenings in March are still quite cool, and the temperature can drop to 50 degrees. However, the days quickly warm up to an average of almost 70 by April and get even warmer by May.
