Gaucho Grill is located in The Palms Hotel and
resort on Arabian Gulf Street a major road in Salwa, Kuwait. The atmosphere is cozy and tea lights brighten up the dimly lit restaurant. The downstairs area of the restaurant is decorated in dark wood and chrome with black and white cowhide chairs. The back wall has a waterfall running down the length of it, and the kitchen is in view, so patrons can watch the cooks prepare meals.
Wows and Woes
The waiter brings each cut of Argentinean steak available on a platter before ordering so you can get a glimpse of the variety. The server takes his time explaining each type and his recommendation on how to order it. It's the best steak I have ever eaten.
Note: dinner is pricey. And every item is ala carte, so when you order steak, you get only steak---any vegetables or salads are extra.
Insider Tips
Kuwaiti's tend to eat dinner late in the evening. So call ahead to make a reservation if you want to eat late, too, and avoid being crowded out.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
We go to Gaucho Grill on any occasion but more often it was to wish someone farewell. I was amazed when we went and my girlfriend ordered three different steaks, side orders, salad and dessert. She said it was to take some home---but then she sat there and ate all of it. The food was good, but that is a lot of food.
Bottom Line
If I could afford it, I would eat there every night. The steak is the number one item on the menu, but the chicken is delicious too.
