Climate & Weather in Irbid, Jordan
A good alternative to Amman as a base for visiting the nearby sites at Ajloun, Um Qais and Jerash, Irbid has a pleasant climate throughout a range of seasons. Set in the rolling hills of the Levant, its surrounding pastures and farmlands take on vastly different characters at different times of the year.
Seasons
Simply put, Irbid has hot summers, pleasantly cool autumns, cold winters with minimal amount of snow and beautiful green springs.
Geography
Jordan's springboard for entering Syria, Irbid lies at its northwestern tip high in the hills above Palestine. Its surrounding forests lie between the vast deserts to the east and the Rift Valley and the Mediterranean Sea to the west.
Temperature
The mean high for Irbid is 73.6 degrees Fahrenheit, reaching about 88 degrees in summer months and 56 in winter months.
Precipitation
In terms of rainfall, Irbid has moderate winters and very dry summers, averaging under four rain days per month. December through February average 10.5 rain days a month while summers are generally rain-free.
Humidity
Aside from seasonal sprinkles, rains and light winter snows, Irbid's humidity level is quite low. Nevertheless, it is still one of the wetter, greener cities in Jordan.
