Located a block from Cancun's popular "Hotel Zone," Barceló Tucancun beach is an all-inclusive resort boasting a Caribbean Sea address and the famous white sand beaches. The Barcelo Tucancun Beach offers its guests three seaside, outdoor swimming pools, five bars and four dining options. Its front lobby is mere steps away from the exclusive Kukulkan Plaza shopping center and a myriad of dining, shopping and nightlife choices.

The service turns this 3-star resort into a budget-friendly deal, especially with its magnificent view of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The staff were always helpful and smiling, with the exception of a slow check-in. There were a few minor glitches (safe not working) with the room, but the staff was quick to respond and resolve. The biggest wow was the rooftop pool with a view of the sea.

However, the guest rooms are on the small size and not made for spending a lot of time in, although the recently renovated Mexican-style decor has helped the appearance.

Insider Tips
Request a room with a view of the Caribbean
Request a room with a view of the Caribbean

Rather than a boring view of the back of Kukulcan Plaza, request a room with a Laguna Nichupte or Caribbean Sea view. It's quieter than the busy street front, and the ebb and flow of the tide is more relaxing.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Mexico Lindo (Mexican cuisine), one of the hotel's reservation-only restaurants on our first night. The cuisine was yummy with a wide selection of top-shelf tequila to seal the Mexican experience.

Bottom Line

Cancun's all-inclusive Barcelo Tucancun Beach offers only basic amenities at a budget-friendly price, a trade-off for the resort's Hotel Zone location and proximity to the action of Cancun.
